Specialty Coffee in Boston

Boston Coffee Culture

To an outsider looking in, Boston definitely feels like a small town in a big city’s skin. The interesting downtown is packed full of history, and sure, the city and its community extends well beyond its official borders to occupy a significantly larger footprint, but that just highlights the idea that Boston might be more of an identity than a place. And I’m here for it. Now specialty coffee in Boston is its own story entirely. While one of the many reasons Boston is famous is of course the Boston Tea Party and that might lead you to believe that it is a tea town, Boston absolutely holds its own in the specialty coffee scene as well. I have not yet had the chance to try every coffee shop that I have on my Boston coffee list, but what I have tried is excellent, creative and worth a deviation from your normal coffee order.

Render Coffee

Render Coffee has a number of locations in the Boston area and any of them are worth the visit, and while my personal favorite was the downtown location in the photo, it has since closed, so check out their other coffee shops in Boston. Make it a priorirty to stop at the Seaport or South End for the premier Boston coffee experience. Their pour over coffee is excellent and for something more unique, try the delicious malted cold brew. It was a first for me and absolutely worth it.
