MELO, Café de Especialidad

It was great to see another specialty coffee shop in Ciudad Obregón serving pour over coffee. This location is somewhat more central in town and has a pleasant seating space out front for the “colder” months and excellent A/C and plenty of tables, even including a rentable conference room, for the rest of the year. I thoroughly enjoyed every specialty coffee bean I tried as a pour over at MELO and can’t wait to go back. Yet another way to wake up after the carne asada food coma from the night before.

While the coffee shop itself occupies the back corner of an ample outdoor space that is second to none as far as where to go to take a nice break from all the carne asada you’ll be eating, the coffee they serve is grand in its execution. The pour overs and Método latte are both excellent and this newly opened space is perfect for whatever your needs may be.

I’ve been to my fair share of cities with a “small town vibe” and struggled majorly with finding a good cup of specialty coffee so it’s an understatement to say that I was ecstatic when I found this gem of a coffee shop in Ciudad Obregón not just making pour overs using specialty coffee beans, but doing it extremely well. Despite being so far from the regions of Mexico famous for growing coffee, the Sonora Desert is indeed a great place to brave the heat by ordering a hot drink anyway. Your taste buds will thank you.
