Holbox is a small beach town/island off the coast of Quintana Roo near Cancún, with only a few paved roads, full of boutique hotels rather than the region’s typical all-inclusive resorts, and home to some of the best water-based activities. Coffee in Holbox is a nice surprise amongst the more typical part smoothie, part coffee, part food cafés that are often found in beach towns. The fact that pour over coffee in Holbox is available at all is thanks to the effort of a dedicated group of people that have found a pleasant side street location off the beaten path with swinging chairs hanging outside on their balcony. Holbox may be receiving a lot more tourism lately, but it still carries the same charm it always had gracefully and should be at the top of your Mexican destination list.

Clandestino is the coffee shop in Holbox to provide just what you’re looking for to kickstart each day of your trip so you can take full advantage of every moment, whether it be water sports, nature sightseeing, or even lounging on the beach. Their pour over coffee focused on Mexican grown specialty coffee beans is obviously my highlight, but of course they have the full suite of iced coffee drinks, whether you want it sweet and sugary or a cold, direct, black coffee. A hot cup of coffee may not be the first thing you think of when you go to a tropical vacation destination, but hey, they have air conditioning to put you in the mood too.
