Specialty Coffee in Seattle

Seattle Coffee Culture

Seattle is one of the first places people think of when asked about coffee, especially coffee consumption. Cold and rainy for much of the year (except for when it’s the exact opposite) and tucked into the lovingly named Pacific Northwest, Seattle really is the perfect place to curl up with a hot coffee and caffeinate your indoor or outdoor adventures. While one brand in particular draws all the attention from the general coffee-drinking populace of the world, those in the know will skip the endlessly long line at that chain’s tourist trap original location and instead tuck into one of the many local specialty coffee shops in Seattle to experience the best of the best. Pour over coffee in Seattle and the espresso both highlight why meeting up with friends or studying at a Seattle coffee shop is so popular.

Analog Coffee

Happily situated in Beacon Hill with no plans of expanding into a corporation, Analog is the epitome of a local neighborhood coffee shop in Seattle with the friendly atmosphere living at the core of its identity. If you want your pour over coffee in Seattle served up with a smile (and the best of specialty beans) by someone who wants to get to know you, then Analog Coffee is your best bet. While some coffee shop owners might focus on just pushing the limits on how many people they can serve in a day, Analog wants every cup to make your day and you can be sure they will remember you the next time you stop by.

original Cedar & Spokes Coffee Cart in Seattle

Cedar & Spokes Coffee

Remember that original outpost of the global chain I mentioned above? Well I’ll let you in on a little secret. Just 2 blocks away from it lies Cedar & Spokes Coffee. Not just the owner of an infinitely cooler name, this coffee shop in Seattle took their initial coffee-on-wheels concept into the stratosphere like E.T. did, serving up sensational pour over coffee to Seattle locals and tourists alike using an ever-changing rotation of single origin coffee beans. What more could you ask for? Well they also provide the wide array of expected milk + espresso drinks as well to satisfy anyone’s cravings.

street view of Victrola Coffee Roasters in Capitol Hill

Victrola Coffee Roasters

Long before I fell in love with coffee, I associated coffee with jazz music thanks to a special hangout spot in my hometown that had live jazz bands playing on Friday nights. (I’m even listening to jazz while I write this.) Now I view Victrola Coffee Roasters as the evolution of that initial exposure years before thanks to everything from their name to their ambience.  Their commitment to sourcing the best single origin coffee beans to serve up pour over while I relax and enjoy that nostalgia trip earns Victrola a special place in my brain when I think of specialty coffee in Seattle.
